Living Design & Build is a family-run FMB-member building company based in Bridgnorth, Shropshire. We have been delivering extensions, loft conversions, new builds and full refurbishments across Shropshire and the West Midlands since 2005.

Our story

Living Design & Build was founded in 2005 by Jon Thompson in a small workshop in Burwarton, just south of Bridgnorth. The first projects were extensions and refurbishments for neighbours and friends — the work was good, word spread, and by 2008 we had a full team.

In 2012 we joined the Federation of Master Builders after a full inspection of completed work and reference checks from clients. FMB membership is a standard we still hold ourselves to: every project quoted as a fixed price, every contract written on JCT Minor Works terms, every job signed off with a Building Regulations completion certificate.

Twenty years and 1,000+ projects later we are still a family business — two directors, a core team of in-house tradespeople, and long-standing relationships with specialist sub-contractors when projects call for them. We have grown by referrals rather than advertising, which we think says more about the work than anything we could write on a website.

Director & Founder

Founded Living Design & Build in 2005 from a small workshop in Burwarton. 20+ years on the trade in Shropshire and the West Midlands. FMB member since 2012. Personally oversees every project from first site visit through final handover. Specialist in period property restoration, large-footprint extensions and full design-and-build projects.

Operations Director

Director — Groundworks & Technology

Director responsible for groundworks across every live build and the technology side of the business. Specialises in foundations, drainage, retaining walls and the heavy-civils end of residential construction, plus our website, geofenced site sign-in system and digital project management tooling.
